Blue Magnolia sells gourmet food and beverages including mini savoury pastries and cakes and has a tea and coffee shop.

Mini savoury pastries comes packed in a box of 6 (for S$9.40; you get to choose only 2 flavours) or 9 pcs (for S$14.45; you get to choose 3 flavours). You can choose amongst the 4 Choices:-

  • Appreciation Choose either Azuki Green Tea Cake, Chocolate Almond Cream Puff or Quiche Lorraine

  • BeautifulChoose either Chocolate Fudge Cake, Fruit Tartlet or Cheese Cream Puff

  • CosmopolitianChoose either New York Cheesecake, Molten Chocolate Cake or Chicken Pie

  • Delicious Choose either Opera, Blueberry Cake or Vol-Au-Vent

You can also opt for the 16 pcs (S$25.70) or 20 pcs (S$29.95) of mini savoury pastries.  They also sell whole cakes, cookies, gourmet tea/coffee or lapis.

Delivery service is available at S$12 per trip within Singapore.  Delivery hours are between 11am to 6pm, Tue & Fri and 9am to 1pm on Saturdays.  There are no deliveries on Mondays, Sundays & Public Holidays.  Place your order at least 2 days in advance.  A surcharge of S$15 will be imposed for deliveries to Sentosa, Jurong Island and other restricted areas and also for deliveries outside delivery hours.  Click here for the order form.

This small gem of a dining room, situated in the busy eating area of Smith Street, is Singapore’s first authentic Nepalese restaurant. Small and friendly, with large murals of mountain scenery, the menu is a superb sample of the spices and flavours of Nepal. Filling without being heavy and greasy, momos (meat or vegetarian steamed or fried dumplings) are an excellent way to start. Recommended dishes include the soup consisting of beans simmered with herbs and green vegetables (also known as dahl); Jheenge papita (prawns marinated with vegetables and herbs) served in a papaya boat, and kukhura so makhani (chicken marinated with butter gravy and herbs). Gorkha Grill is delicious and reasonably priced – made more economical by bringing along your own wine.

To find this place, look out for the row of street hawker centre in Chinatown.  It’s located behind one of the stalls.  What I love about this place is that the service is excellent and the dishes are served in tiny copper plates like the ones shown in the pictures above.
