Still low-carbing? You might want to check out these low-carbohydrate pies from Bluespoon, a cafe in Ghim Moh that serves light meals and sells frozen gourmet food.
It has come up with a lamb curry pie ($6.90) and chicken or beef shepherd’s pie ($6) topped with mashed cauliflower instead of carb-heavy mashed potato. The result is a much lighter pie topping that complements the savoury fillings very well. I happen to like cauliflower, especially if it’s steamed and mashed with a bit of butter. Bluespoon adds low fat milk, and the result is delicious.
Just be sure to eat the pie when it’s hot. The sulphuric pong of cold mashed cauliflower is not appetising at all.
The complete list of frozen gourmet food and prices are available from their website. Their menu can also be viewed from there.
